With the temperature quickly dropping and Christmas fast approaching, many of us are dreaming of catching a plane, lying on a beach underneath the beating sun, with a cocktail in hand…

Tenerife, Canary Islands

Just off West Africa, Tenerife is probably the closest place to the UK to find some guaranteed Winter sun. With a journey time of just over 4 and a half hours, it’s a great place to visit if you are wanting to escape for a few days (or longer!).

With an average temperature of 21°C in December, the temperate climate is irresistible.

The festive period is a great time to visit as the streets are noticeably quieter and there are certainly less tourists. You can spend your time one one of the island’s 7 golf courses, go whale-watching or visit the Teide National Park, home to Spain’s highest mountain.

Morocco, Africa

The gateway to Africa offers everything a traveller could wish for. Ancient cities, vast mountain ranges, awesome coastline and a huge amount of culture.

For those seeking a relaxed break, Agadir and Tangiers are great coastal resorts with plenty of authentic cafes and restaurants. Marrakech offers a much livelier scene, with world-renowned souks and streets bustling with heritage and culture.

Morocco boasts an average temperature of 23°C in December - that’s warmer than the majority of the UK’s Summers!

Cape Verde

Just off the Northwest coast of Africa, Cape Verde is a hidden gem with numerous picturesque beaches and azure-blue sea. With Portuguese and African influences, the islands are full of character and they pride themselves on their varied art, culture and music.

Santiago, the largest of the islands, is lively and boasts an array of remarkable wildlife. Sal is known for its excellent watersports on offer and beautiful white sandy beaches - it’s a place for sunseekers and adventurers alike.

Dubai, UAE

Dubai offers everything you could wish for - an incredibly warm climate averaging 25°C in December, great beaches, culture, adventure, and plenty of shops! It is one of the most visited destinations in the world, and we can certainly see why.

Home to the world’s tallest building, one of the most impressive shopping malls in the world, Dubai Mall, and with plenty of flash supercars to be seen, Dubai is one of those places you have to experience at least once in your life!

However beyond the glitz, there is culture on offer just waiting to be explored. Take an abra trip along Dubai Creek, a trading port, to see older parts of the city which are central to its commerce. Thailand

Winter is the ideal time to visit Thailand, as it is well into the cool and dry season. The

temperature in Bangkok averages 26°C in December - it can feel incredibly humid however!

Known for its tropical beaches, ornate temples and ruins, Thailand is a fun-loving country which is a great place to visit at any time of the year - as long as you don’t mind the rain in monsoon season!

You can delve into the heritage, visit local wildlife sanctuaries, go island-hopping and enjoy the local delicacies all year round. It’s a great place for couples and families alike as there is such a huge variety of activities on offer - you will find something to please everyone!
