However, a stay in an unusual hotel, whether it may be a night in an upcycled Boeing 727 in the heart of the Costa Rican jungle, or a renovated fort surrounded by the sea, is something that we will continue to talk about long after check out!
Check out our list of the top 5 most unusual hotels from across the world.

Das Park Hotel, Linz, Austria
Certainly not for the faint-hearted, this eco-friendly hotel in Ottensheim, Austria, offers accommodation in giant converted sewage pipes!
Surprisingly, these rooms are incredibly robust, clean, safe and sophisticated. Designed by architect Andreas Strauss, the rooms have been created to provide the maximum comfort.
Although there are no windows, the hotel provides all the modern necessities - a double bed, storage, power sockets and blankets.
There is no set fee for staying here, but instead the hotel also has an unusual ‘pay-as-you-wish’ service.

You’ve heard of ice hotels, but have you heard of salt hotels?
This innovative 5-star hotel, located in Salar de Uyuni, the largest salt flat in the world, is made almost entirely of natural salt.
There are 30 elegant bedrooms, the majority of which resemble igloos with dome roofs. The walls, floors, beds, chairs, tables and even sofas are crafted entirely from salt!
The hotel even boasts a spa with sauna and steam room, a saltwater pool and whirlpool baths for guests to relax and unwind. There is also a 9-hole golf which surface is made of, you guessed it… salt!

No Man’s Fort, Portsmouth, England
Perhaps one of the most unusual hotels in the UK, this 19th-century sea fort was built originally to prevent a French invasion. Nowadays, it serves as a tourist attraction and hotel.
Situated in the Solent, the stretch of water between mainland England and the Isle Of Wight, and only accessible by ferry, the fort offers luxury accommodation to guests.
Bedrooms offer views of the surrounding ocean and contain some original features. The penthouse Lighthouse Suite is our favourite room, offering an abundance of natural light and a wonderful vantage point where guests can observe the sun deck.
The hotel has a billiards room, hot tub, laser tag area, sauna and wine tasting room for guests to enjoy themselves.
